2 May v Bristol Asians - League (Home)

Hampset A made a resounding start to the season with a seven wicket win over Portishead.  After being inserted, Portishead were bowled out for 97, a real team effort in the field, with evergreen Terry Sandys taking 5-13, Ben Voutt 3-15 and captain Roger Perkins proving economical, with 2-26. In reply, Hampset's openers Josh Self (30) and Dave Young (24) laid the foundation to make victory a formality.  Hampset are now top of the table.

9 May v Pak Bristolians - League (Away)

Hampset thirds maintained their 100% start to the season, but only after an almighty scare against Pak Bristolians, who were asked to bat first. Once again the Hampset bowlers paved the way for success, Dan Roberts (4-20) removing the top order, with Terry Sandys (3-31) and Roger Perkins (2-12) again economical, combined with great support in the field, notably Alex Copeland taking three catches, James Bagnall two and Phil Durham one wicket and a catch, Hampset thus restricted the home team to just 82 all out.  After an early collapse, Hampset looked in danger of losing, but thanks to Aaron Peace (18) and a gritty innings from Shaun Lewis, Hampset scraped home by just one wicket.

A youthful Hampset thirds hosted Portishead who reached 164 in their 45 overs, with Roger Perkins again in the wickets, taking 3-47 and sprightly Kevin Fairman 3-44, the bowlers again were aided by several excellent catches, the pick by Ben Priestley, Ed Fraser and Nick Fairman.  Hampset's reply got off to a good start, thanks to Pete Sixsmith (28) and Kevin Fairman (46), but wickets fell regularly and Hampset finished 36 runs short.

11/7

Hampset thirds maintained their good form and beat not only Pak Bristolians but also the weather with a four wicket win that was more comfortable than the margin suggests.  Hampset bowled out the Pakistanis for just 80, with Nicky Fairman taking a league best 7-37, ably supported by Roger Perkins and Tom Dunford and it was also a real team effort in the field, the highlight being James Parker's run out from the boundary.  In reply, Hampset raced to 83-6, just ahead of the rain, with Tom Dunford hitting several fine shots in his 30 not out.
