Hampset
A made a resounding start to the season with a seven wicket win over
Portishead. After being inserted, Portishead were bowled out
for 97, a real team effort in the field, with evergreen Terry Sandys
taking 5-13, Ben Voutt 3-15 and captain Roger Perkins proving
economical, with 2-26. In reply, Hampset's openers Josh Self (30)
and Dave Young (24) laid the foundation to make victory a
formality. Hampset are now top of the table.
9 May v Pak Bristolians -
League (Away)
Hampset
thirds maintained their 100% start to the season, but only after an
almighty scare against Pak Bristolians, who were asked to bat first. Once
again the Hampset bowlers paved the way for success, Dan
Roberts (4-20) removing the top order, with Terry Sandys (3-31)
and Roger Perkins (2-12) again economical, combined with great
support in the field, notably Alex Copeland taking three
catches, James Bagnall two and Phil Durham one wicket and
a catch, Hampset thus restricted the home team to just 82 all
out. After an early collapse, Hampset looked in danger of
losing, but thanks to Aaron Peace (18) and a gritty innings
from Shaun Lewis, Hampset scraped home by just one wicket.

Hampset thirds returned to winning ways with a
resounding performance against Coalpit Heath. Batting first,
Hampset scored 291-7, with Duncan Nicholas scoring a classy
128, Kevin Fairman a solid 50 not out and James Fairman an
insouciant 27. In reply, Coalpit Heath were never in the hunt
after Nicky Fairman took 2-39 in 13 overs and Dave Young chipped
in with 2-20; they finished on 152-6, Hampset winning by 139
runs

Hampset thirds winning run
continued with a comfortable six-wicket victory over St Mary
Redcliffe. After electing to field first, Hampset
bowled out the opposition for just 79. Roger Perkins led the
way with 4-20 in 15 overs, supported by Nicky Fairman, 2-48 in
15 overs and evergreen Terry Sandys 2-3. Hampset excelled
in the field and took eight catches, Alex Copeland took three
and debutant Alex Skuse (14) included a run
out. In reply, Hampset reached 81-4 with Dave Young's
solid 24 not out ensuring victory, with another debutant, Ben
Priestley (13) finishing 11 not out.

A youthful Hampset thirds hosted
Portishead who reached 164 in their 45 overs, with Roger Perkins
again in the wickets, taking 3-47 and sprightly Kevin Fairman
3-44, the bowlers again were aided by several excellent
catches, the pick by Ben Priestley, Ed Fraser and Nick
Fairman. Hampset's reply got off to a good start, thanks
to Pete Sixsmith (28) and Kevin Fairman (46), but
wickets fell regularly and Hampset finished 36 runs
short.

Hampset thirds maintained
their good form and beat not only Pak Bristolians but also the
weather with a four wicket win that was more comfortable than the
margin suggests. Hampset bowled out the Pakistanis for just
80, with Nicky Fairman taking a league best 7-37, ably
supported by Roger Perkins and Tom Dunford and it was also a
real team effort in the field, the highlight being James Parker's
run out from the boundary. In reply, Hampset raced to 83-6,
just ahead of the rain, with Tom Dunford hitting several fine
shots in his 30 not out.

Hampset thirds much vaunted bowling attack paved the way for yet
another victory, this time at the expense of Chipping Sodbury, who
after being inserted, were bowled out for 89, with Roger Perkins
taking 2-11, James Dorey 3-18 and Nicky Fairman 4-18. In reply
Hampset reached the total for the loss of only three wickets, with a
solid 20 not out from Will Holden, fireworks from Dan Roberts
hitting 14 not out in three scoring shots and with useful
contributions from Matt Ball (20) and Tom Dunford (14).
